The right lifestyle can drive hope
Chances are you are visiting this page because you have either been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Problem/ Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) or you know someone with the disease. The most important thing to remember is that there is hope. Although CKD can be serious, there are actions that can be taken to promote healthy kidney function. By living an active, healthy lifestyle and taking a probiotic to support healthy kidney function, patients with CKD can decrease the harmful toxins that accumulate in blood due to the disease and continue to live a full, productive life.
The facts about chronic kidney problem
Kidney disease, also known as chronic kidney disease or CKD, occurs when the kidneys become damaged and cannot function properly. The main function of the kidneys is to clear toxins out of the blood. If kidney disease is not treated, toxins can build up in the bloodstream and cause serious damage to internal organs and vital body systems.3 CKD is classified by stages based on damage to the kidneys and level of kidney function (based on a measurement called glomerular filtration rate, or GFR). Depending on the stage of kidney disease, a patient may lose anywhere from 50% of their kidney function to complete renal failure, also known as end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
If the waste in the bloodstream is allowed to build up, creatinine and blood urea nitrogen levels can become elevated, a condition known as azotemia. This condition can become fatal if not medically treated. In addition, related complications can include high blood pressure, anemia, weak bones, poor nutritional health, and nerve damage.
Almost all of us know someone who has been diagnosed with CKD. According to the National Kidney Foundation, over 26 million American adults have CKD and millions more are at risk.3However, if caught early, the progression of CKD can be slowed by living a healthy lifestyle and promoting good kidney health. In fact, in the early stages, there are rarely any symptoms or the symptoms are too slight to notice. However, CKD is a degenerative disease, which means that the condition will worsen over time unless properly managed.
The impact of kidney problem
Kidney disease and disease of the urinary tract cause roughly 830,000 deaths worldwide every year.4 Globally, CKD is the 12th leading cause of death and the 17th leading cause of disability.4Sadly, the numbers may in fact be much higher than what has been recorded. This is due to the fact that people with CKD are also at high risk for heart disease and stroke, which are more likely to be recorded as the cause of death than CKD.4 Moreover, patients with cardiovascular disease are at high risk of CKD, which may go unrecognized because of the similarity of symptoms between the 2 diseases.
An important reason to support kidney health is the cost of treatment. Often, when unmanaged, kidney disease will progress to later stages and patients will require dialysis treatment. In the United States, dialysis is extremely expensive, costing up to $80,000 a year.5 The National Institutes of Health estimated that in 2009, the annual cost of treatment for ESRD in the US was over $40 billion.5 This cost can become a heavy burden for patients living in the US. But for those who live outside of the US, not only is treating the disease expensive, but it can also be difficult to find a location that offers treatment. As the disease progresses, therapy requires more expensive and state-of-the-art equipment that is limited and cost-prohibitive in many parts of the world. It is probable that a large number of additional cases go unreported due to the difficulty of diagnosing a patient with CKD in the early stages.
Renadyl™ | Natural supplement for Kidney Health
Renadyl™ is a patented and proprietary probiotics dietary supplement that has been scientifically formulated and clinically tested.
